Just 5Km off the coast near Cardwell,
Hinchinbrook Island is the largest National Park Island in the
Great Barrier Reef and is mostly uninhabited, except for one
environmental resort at Cape Richards. The resort won the 2004
North Queensland Tourism Award for Eco-Tourism.

The Lodge offers accommodation in spacious
timber treehouses. They're spacious, modern and
architecturally designed and are nestled in the rainforest
and connected by a winding, timber boardwalk. Each tree
house has its own timber patio; are designed
to ensure your privacy and are all take
advantage of the breathtaking views.
The main lodge overlooks a large inground pool. 
The island is 37.4 Km and 10Km wide and is an ideal base
from which to explore the tropical marine and island
environments. Why not take a day to cruise through the mangrove
everglades or the outer Great Barrier Reef ? You can go
snorkelling; take a walk through the virgin rainforest to
isolated beaches (there's 11 beautiful, sandy beaches) or fish
the world renowned waters.
There's day cruises to other parts of the
National Park as well as fishing charters, so there's
plenty to do on your exotic vaction to Hinchinbrook
Island.
